Bringing together Lou's multiple loves of entertainment, architecture, city planning, and urban infrastructure, it was inevitable that he would pursue a career in Locations. After graduating from Champion Jesuit High School in Wisconsin as a junior, Lou spent his senior year at Bellermine College Prep in San Jose, CA. This allowed him to often visit one of his favorite cities, San Francisco. His eye was caught by the beauty of the city with its mix of historic and modern buildings. This set the stage for his future.

Lou returned home for college, graduating from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Communications. While at Loyola, he began pursuing a career behind the camera starting with an internship on the Lee Phillips Show at WBBM, the local CBS affiliate. In early 1986, he ventured out to Hollywood to see where that would take him. Like most professionals eager to break into the business, Lou took on many roles including production coordinator, set decorator, costuming and the like. As many in the entertainment business, writer and producer were two additional roles he was pursing on the side.

In gaining as much experience as possible, Lou inadvertently accepted a Locations position. He definitely found his niche. Through this work, Lou was able to integrate his visual skills of locations scouting, organizational skills of coordinating and executing the Locations function, interpersonal skills of shmoozing and placating film offices, property owners, government support resources, and management skills of making it all happen. Lou also should be recognized for his all around "good guy" skills in that he often left his ego at the door and made others feel like their voice was heard. Lou's hard work and dedication culminated in his nomination for the 2004 Award Finalist under Commercials.
